Charlotte Community Profile
Welcome to Charlotte - A Michigan Cool City, Blue Print Community
The welcome mat is always out in Charlotte one of the oldest communities in mid-Michigan, our area boasts classic small town charm that retains a rural flavor. We are a community built on historic traditions that continue to touch our lives daily. Whether you wander down our tree lined streets to admire the many buildings that still glow with the beauty of days gone by, or visit our friendly and unique shops, or just meet and mingle with our courteous residents, we are sure that you will enjoy your visit to our community. With a convenient location just 15 miles south/west of Lansing and the state’s capital, Charlotte is removed from, but yet close enough to the urban areas of Lansing, East Lansing and Michigan State University. Quiet rural landscapes combined with many of the urban amenities that add just the right touch of convenience make this community uniquely different and exciting.
Charlotte is home to a number of great new facilities that most communities don’t enjoy. First is our Hospital, Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital, with professionals from all specialties and the addition of an Urgent Care, Dialysis Unit and a modern emergency wing. All this while still providing that one-on-one care you would expect from a great hometown hospital.
Second is our Schools. We are a community that values our youth and works with parents and families to achieve success. Collaborative efforts have produced $63 million in successful school bond issues, which has afforded us up to date classrooms in the high school and elementary buildings, computer labs, outstanding athletic facilities, and a new state-of-the-art middle school. The new Charlotte Aquatic Center (www.swimcharlotte.org) was designed as a multi-use facility for people of all ages. The main pool can simultaneously accommodate physical education students from the Middle School, lap swimmers, and adult water fitness classes. The adjacent exercise pool is used daily for therapy patients from Hayes Green Beach Hospital, special needs students and adults. It is 'The place to be!'
Third is the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, Mid-Michigan's newest home for the performing arts. We are now in our fifth season of great entertainment which has included; The Vienna Choir Boys, Melissa Manchester, The Shanghai Circus, Josh Gracin, Jeff Daniels, Southern Fried Chicks Comedy Tour and many others. We welcome Mid-Michigan to our great new performance venue! As you can tell there is a lot to Celebrate in Charlotte... It's a great place! Come see for yourself. www.CPACpresents.com

The Charlotte Public Schools, made up of K-12 grade programs plus early childhood experiences and adult education, provides quality programs for all. It is our vision to "be a premier learning organization, fostering relationships with school and community to develop contributing and productive citizens". Our award-winning programs and state-of-the-art facilities enhance a student's successful experience in our schools. We welcome your partnership to ensure that success for every child!

Courthouse History
Charlotte is the only community in Michigan with three Courthouses still in existence - The 1885 Eaton County Courthouse downtown in the Courthouse Square next to the 1873 second empire sheriff's residence, the 1845 Courthouse under restoration in Bennett Park, and the current Courthouse built in 1976 on the northwest edge of town. This is a treasured link to our past and a unique opportunity for your future.
